Environmental Justice Advocacy Organizations

Our founders decided to form an organization in the spirit of the civil rights movement. One that would seek to organize everyday residents in service of their own vision for a stronger Eastside. We’ve since become a multi-issue organization to build stronger schools, grow our civic engagement, and prevent housing displacement for a stronger and more powerful Eastside.

East Yard Communities for Environmental Justice (EYCEJ) is a community-based organization that works to facilitate self-advocates in East Los Angeles, Southeast Los Angeles and Long Beach.

By providing workshops and trainings, EYCEJ prepares community members to engage in the decision-making processes that directly impact their health and quality of life.

The California Environmental Justice Alliance is a statewide, community-led alliance that works to achieve environmental justice by advancing policy solutions. We unite the powerful local organizing of our members in the communities most impacted by environmental hazards – low-income communities and communities of color – to create comprehensive opportunities for change at a statewide level to alleviate poverty and pollution.

STAND-L.A. is a racial and environmental justice coalition of community groups working for and with Angelenos on the front lines of urban oil extraction.

LA Forward is a community organization fighting for policies that will make Los Angeles County a fair, flourishing place for everyone.

We act as a hub to welcome and connect Angelenos who want to do something about climate change with direct actions that work to help protect our climate and promote environmental justice, particularly at the local level. We work to foster and strengthen relationships with partner organizations fighting for climate justice locally.

Founded in 1978, Communities for a Better Environment (CBE) is one of the preeminent environmental justice organizations in the nation. The mission of CBE is to build people’s power in California’s communities of color and low income communities to achieve environmental health and justice by preventing and reducing pollution and building green, healthy and sustainable communities and environments.
